Councilmember Joey Herald is inspired by the goodness, faith, service and love demonstrated by the people of Allen. He appreciates the community’s emphasis on strong families, businesses, education, and the arts.
Herald was first elected in 2008 to fill an unexpired term, then reelected in 2009, 2012 and 2015. As a member of City Council, he served as council liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission (2008-2012), the Parks and Recreation Board (2008-2012), and the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce (2009-2011). He has also been a board member on the Convention and Visitors Bureau Advisory Board (2009-2012).
Since 2012, Herald has worked as council liaison to the Keep Allen Beautiful Board and Library Board. He also serves as a board member for the Economic Development Corporation.
Herald holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and works as a real estate broker in the Allen area. Before his election to council, he was part of the Parks and Recreation Board (2002-2006), president of the Allen Kiwanis Club (2003-2004), and co-founder and co-captain of the Allen Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) (2006-2011).
Herald is an active volunteer in his church, on the Boy Scouts District Committee, and with the Collin County Association of Realtors. He has been married to his wife, Charity, for over 27 years; they have seven children.
