Public Pools and Spas

Permit Requirements

All public and semi-public swimming pools, spas and public interactive water features (PIWF - such as spraygrounds) must obtain a new health permit at the beginning of each year. You must schedule and pass an inspection before operations begin.

Pool Operator Requirements

To operate a public pool, spa or water feature, you must maintain one of the following certifications. All certifications must be approved by the regulatory authority:

  • Certified Aquatic Facility Operator (A.F.O.)
  • Certified Pool/Spa Operator (C.P.O.)
  • Pool Operator On Location (P.O.O.L.)
