OnStage @ APL presents "Deceit of an Ally"

Thursday, November 30, 2023

Former National Security Agency Mideast analyst Bruce Brill provides revelations on the 1973 Yom Kippur invasion of Israel.

Bruce enlisted in the US Army in 1971.  Trained as an Arabic interpreter, he was assigned to NSA in Fort Meade, Maryland. On the first day of the October 1973 Yom Kippur War, he had an epiphany: while he and his NSA colleagues knew of the planned Arab attack against Israel days in advance, he was astounded to learn the front-line Israeli soldiers were caught by total surprise.

General Eli Zeira was then head of Israeli Military Intelligence. In 2017, General Zeira confided in Bruce that this false assessment resulted in Israel suffering the loss of over 2,600 soldiers, most unnecessarily. General Dr. Yaakov Hisdai, an investigator of the post-Yom Kippur War Agranat Commission of Inquiry, asks, “How did this befall us? … To this very day, we don’t have a clear answer.”

Bruce’s recently released book, “Deceit of an Ally,” finally offers answers to this question.

Can’t be there in person? The program will be streamed live on ACTV. For online, cable channel, and streaming app options, view the Watch ACTV page or use the live streaming link provided in the sidebar.

The library is located at 300 N. Allen Dr. Call 214-509-4911 for additional information.
